    I do occasionally experience dry eyes and a little scalp itch but asserting that it's caused by Hydrochloroquine would be anecdotal at best. It took about 5 weeks to take effect but my RA is basically a non factor now.

    Hi Guys, I haven't been here for a while - just checked in and found this question on Plaquenil - for me it took approx nine weeks to begin to work - I'm only taking 200mg per day so far - it seemed to stop working a few weeks later - most days are pretty good I s'pose but I drop nearly every afternoon. Last week my doc added plaquenil to the mix. I have a pharmacist friend that says it can take up to a year to work, but once its kicks in it can be really good. I suggest you ask your rhuemie for additional help in the meantime. I have had RA going on 12 years, and originally way back when I ws given plaquenil alone and it did nothing. Tell your doctor about all medicines you use, and those you start or stop using during your treatment with hydroxychloroquine. Give a list of all your medicines to any healthcare provider who treats you. Where can I get more information Plaquenil, Plaquenil Sulfate, Quineprox?
