I lost about 1/3 of my hair over the course of 6 weeks while I was on my taper last year. I'm tapering down and noticed that I was shedding lots of hair about a month ago, when I was at 60/mg every other day. At that point I was around 20 mg, but I had been on Pred for at least 3 months by that point. I'm currently at 40/mg every other day and it's still falling out! My doc thought the massive hair loss might be my body recovering from my rapid onset of symptoms, but we didn't get definitive... I know the constant shedding is annoying, but it does grow back. I've been on it since November and am on my taper...currently 5mg/day and I just now started to notice this. Luckily not enough to have visible spots on my head... My daughter is currently coming off steroids for the last time (been on up an down pulsing for 4 yrs) and her hair has REALLY been falling out over the last 3 months. I did notice it about 2wks ago, but just dismissed it. we will be off steroids in 2 weeks, I am glad to hear it will grow back. then had thick beautiful dark curly hair (she was a straight-haired blonde) on cyclosporine, and went through some other shedding times on prograf.... It went away when I stopped the pred and everything is back to normal now. but this current massive shed (she does have some bald spots, but I can cover them up) I think is completely due to the pred taper. My daughter has lost so much hair that we are getting worrried and thinking hair extentions. I really wouldnt care if she was bald at this point - just want her off the steroids forever!! I lost all body hair below my neck (great cause I didn't have to shave armpits or legs for 6 months) but grew neck and facial hair like nobodys business. She had such a thick head of hair that her hairdresser would always make comments of how long it would take to do it. Now she is so thin we can us e a baby rubber band to band it all together. The list of medications that cause hair loss is surprisingly long! The bad news is that you might not have been made aware of the risk when you were first prescribed the medication. The good news, on the other hand, is that drug induced hair loss usually reverses itself as soon as you stop taking the medication concerned, so damage is rarely permanent. One of these cycles - the anagen phase - lasts for 3 to 4 years and is the time during which the hair is actually growing. It's followed by the telogen phase - lasting for around 3 months - during which time the hair 'rests'. Once the telogen phase is over, the hair falls out... But some medications may interfere with this hair growth cycle. The most common type of interruption results in a type of hair loss called 'telogen effluvium'. The hair falls out because the medication causes it to enter the telogen - or 'resting' phase - earlier than it should.
There are so many handsome guys around and she is so beautiful. We love each other dearly, but you know I have always been worried about the difference in our age. That's why I have always tried to be a perfect husband in everything, especially in sex. But lifestyle and age affect my health in a certain way. Once when I failed again Jackie told me that I was getting too old for sex. Though Jackie still plays her jokes on me, I don't care cause we love each other and we are happy! It was a joke of course, she often makes fun at me, meaning no offence. Last year when I was pregnant I had serious problems with my legs. It's just the way she is and I love her for these naughty little jokes. By the end of the day they used to get thick and swollen. But that time her joke shot me right into the heart. Looking for help I read some information about Levitra. I couldn't wear shoes and it was unpleasant for me to move. It appears that complaints about hair loss are near the top of the list of side effects reported with extended prednisone use..... the good news is it seems it is not a permanent problem - the hair recovers after the prednisone is stopped. I have not had any major side effects, I have some hair loss.
