Metformim wasn't something that was ever discussed previously but wondering if it now prescribed more commonly for PCOS? And from anyone who has taken Metfformim does it make you quite as Hello, I had PCOS - before DS, I was put on Metformin and Clomid was only mentioned as the next step if required, but I got pregnant almost straight away with the Metformin. Consultant kindly put in my notes to GP to just give me Metformin again when I wanted to get pg again, so I wouldn't have to go through the system to the consultant again, so I just requested from GP and got pregnant straight away with DD. Don't remember many side effects, certainly not hormonal type - perhaps a bit of acid reflux and slightly runny tummy (sorry, TMI!! GP has said he can't prescribe it so will need referring again. I know not everyone get really hormonal with clomid but i hated taking it. I've been taking Metformin for about 18 months. It can give you an upset tummy and some people find they just can't get on with it, although I found it fine from fairly early on. Make sure you build up your dose gradually if you are given more than 500mg/day (1 tablet).

Hi everyone, I'm about to start my first round of clomid (50mg) with metformin (500mg) Does anyone know if taking metformin with clomid will increase my chance of having twins? Also, a little bit about me, I've been trying for over a year for #3, I have PCOS. I conceived my dd naturally on the first try, I conceived my DS after trying for 1yr, on my first round of Clomid, and this time, it's been a year, and I've been on metformin for 3mos with no luck, but we're going to combine it with clomid to see if it helps, I have my fingers crossed! Taking clomid will increase your chances of twins, but from what I've heard it's not increasing your chances a whole lot. The metformin doesn't increase that chance anymore, it regulates hormones but doesn't induce ovulation. I know metformin doesn't increase my chance of twins, it just helps to regulate... Don't get discouraged if clomid doesn't work for you; I was on it for 6 months (5 cycles) and am still not pregnant. lol) If it worked for you for your second baby, I am hoping it works for your third. I just thought if it regulated me to the point of almost not needing clomid, maybe the clomid would be too strong, and cause twins..sure?? ..metformin alone, I o'd for the first 2 mos, now stopped o'ing again..I'm onto clomid next cycle, hoping it works as good as me last time using it! I would love to have twins as well, I think it would be exciting! They would probably have to do tests again ( yuck) Hey there!!! As I said, just curious :) Good luck for you as well! Metformin will help Clomid work better for you but no, it doesnt increase your chance of having twins. It did NOTHING for me on its own, but I do believe it has made it easier for me to respond to the lowest dose of Clomid. I was not expecting to respond to such a low dose and expected to go back to my OB in February reporting no change. I'm 27 years old and I have pcos I've been TTC for about 9 years with no luck never been preggers before and I'm starting to feel like I never will my fiancé has lots of children from his past relationships but wants at least one from me I feel so bad that I'm not able.. I can't remember, it's been awhile , can my gp write a prescription for metformine? Clomid, however, certainly does increase your chances. So twins would happen more with 150mg of Clomid than with 50mg. All my family members keep asking me when I'm i gonna have a baby and it makes me sad because I can't give them the answer and all of my little cousins are having babies left and right.. uses cookies to improve performance by remembering your session ID when you navigate from page to page.
